What we collect
Piehole collects only the data you provide to use the app:
- Account info — email address and password (hashed, never stored in plain text)
- Food entries — what you log, including food names, calories, and macronutrients
- Profile data — age, height, weight, activity level, and health preferences you enter
- Activity data — if you connect Strava, we receive workout summaries (type, duration, distance, calories burned)
- Photos — menu or food photos you take are sent to our AI service for analysis but are not stored
How we use it
- To track your calories and nutrition
- To generate personalized meal suggestions via AI
- To adjust your calorie budget based on activity
- To improve the app experience
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data to anyone
- We don't show you ads
- We don't share your data with third parties except as needed to run the service (AI processing, activity syncing)
Third-party services
- Anthropic (Claude AI) — processes your meal suggestions and photo analysis. Subject to Anthropic's privacy policy.
- Strava — if connected, receives and sends activity data. Subject to Strava's privacy policy.
- Open Food Facts — barcode lookups query this public database. No personal data is sent.
- Cloudflare — hosts the app and API. Subject to Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Data storage
Your data is stored in Cloudflare's global network using D1 (SQLite). Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest.
Data deletion
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the app's Settings screen. You can also email support@piehole.ai to request data deletion.
Strava data
If you connect Strava, Piehole accesses your activity data (workouts, duration, distance, calories) to adjust your daily calorie budget. You can disconnect Strava at any time from Settings, which stops all data syncing. We do not access your Strava social data, routes, or segment information.
